CEREC Crowns

Dental crowns are an excellent solution for a variety of cosmetic and oral health problems. We can use this treatment to restore broken and damaged teeth while enhancing the appearance of your smile. At Smiles on the Boulevard, you won’t have to wait weeks for an off-site dental lab to make your new crown. With CEREC printing technology, we can design, create, and place your crown in one visit!

CEREC_CrownsWhat Are the Differences Between CEREC Crowns and Traditional Crowns?

We can use dental crowns to fix tooth damage, strengthen teeth, or adjust the appearance of a patient’s smile. Traditional crowns are made from high-quality porcelain or ceramic. For this option, your dentist must send detailed images of your teeth to an off-site dental laboratory. Here, skilled technicians will design and craft a crown to match the shape and color of your natural tooth. This process can take several weeks and might be somewhat expensive.

With CEREC technology, we can design, create, and place your crown in a single day! For this procedure, Dr. Hawkins will take detailed images of your teeth with an advanced digital scanner. She will use the information from the scan to create a 3D model of your new crown. Within her CEREC program, she can adjust the shape and color of your crown to perfectly match your smile.

After she has added some final touches to the design, Dr. Hawkins will send the model to our CEREC 3D printer to craft your permanent crown. Because the printer uses ceramic, your new crown will be just as sturdy and beautiful as a traditional one!

What Can CEREC Crowns Fix?

We often use dental crowns for cosmetic and restorative treatments. Because they are durable and attractive, they are an excellent solution for a wide range of oral health issues. At Smiles on the Boulevard, we use CEREC crowns to treat:

  • Teeth with cosmetic blemishes
  • Chipped, cracked, fractured, or broken teeth
  • Missing teeth
  • Teeth with large dental fillings
  • Excessively worn teeth
  • Teeth that are too small

How Do I Care for My CEREC Crown?

As with natural teeth, your CEREC crown can become damaged or discolored over time. It is important to take great care of your restoration to ensure it stays in good condition. To do this, Dr. Hawkins recommends brushing and flossing at least two times per day. Having an at-home oral hygiene routine is an important part of keeping your smile bright and healthy.

To prevent damage, do not bite or chew on anything hard such as ice. Dr. Hawkins also recommends avoiding tobacco products and darkly-colored foods and drinks, as these can cause your crowns and teeth to become dark and stained.
